Plan Your Trip: Green Meadows Petting Farm

The weather is finally cooling off and nothing says fall like a visit to a local farm! We visited the Green Meadows Petting Farm in Dallas. Here's what we thought!

THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE YOU GO

  • This company has TWO locations. One is in Dallas and one in Maryland. Make sure when looking up information on their site you're looking at the correct one.

  • We found it tricky to find information specific to the Dallas location. Here is the best webpage to check out.

  • The farm is actually located on Boy Scout Camp Wisdom. When you arrive there won't be a sign for the farm off the main road. Look for the signs in the parking lot to help direct you towards the farm entrance.

  • There are different prices for weekend/weekdays and admission includes different attractions. Check before you go!

  • Although open until 5, the last admission is at 4 PM.

This farm does it all!

Green Meadows features large pens that farm staff can assist families in entering to play with and pet the animals. Animals available to pet in their pens are the ducks, geese, chickens, turkeys, & the baby cows with many more animals to look at.

There are also opportunities to feed the animals including cows, sheep & llamas. Watch out! Those cows have crazy long wet tongues! The feed is included with admission on weekdays only.

The cow milking station was by far one of the busiest areas of the farm! With the help of farm staff, visitors can actually milk a cow!

At the top of each hour, families can watch the "pig races" where the pigs run from one pen to another. While we were there it turned into an awesome pig marathon as one pig decided he didn't want to go to the other pen and took a lap around the entire farm!

We picked up small pumpkins (free with admission) and a few large ones (only $2 today!).

This farm is only open the month of October. They have several events planned throughout the month and this weekend only (October 26th-27th) is their Trick or Treat Scavenger Hunt.

An important thing to know is that the scavenger hunt is for kids ages 9-12 through the nice scouts helping run the hunt were happy to give younger kids candy as well. The hunt features clues that take you to different parts of the farm. Once you correctly identify the answer to the clue you get a treat AND letters. Once all clues are found the acquired letters spell out where to find the final prize! While we were there a very friendly boy scout troop was handing out the treats! It was a fun way to see the whole farm AND get some candy.

Our favorite parts were the corn pits, duck races, and the maze. Depending on the day you come there are wagon/tractor rides also.

Green Meadows Petting Farm is a fun family-friendly spot to add to your fall bucket list! Green Meadows Petting Farm 6400 W. Red Bird Lane, Dallas, TX 75236

Green Meadows Petting Farm provided us with free admission tickets to give an honest review of this attraction.
